Promenade Plantée
The Promenade Plantée is a 4.5km elevated park situated on old railway viaducts in the 12th arrondissement in Paris. The viaducts was taken out of service in 1969 and had been constructed in the 19th century, they connected the Bastille with the eastern suburbs.
The elevated park is only for pedestrians, cyclists can ride at street level where there are arts and craft workshops inside the viaduct (the Viaduc des Arts). The park was designed by landscape architect Jacques Vergelyand architect Philippe Mathieux. It is currently the only elevated park in the world.
